PLATFORM has announced its global representation of bespoke and ready-to-wear headwear label The Season Hats. Established by husband and wife duo Paul and Selina, the brand uses traditional production techniques alongside newer technologies such as laser cutting. The bespoke element of the brand provides alternative colours, adjusted details and new styles whilst the ready-to-wear spring/summer 2015 and autumn/winter 2015 lines feature trilby designs, head pieces and cut-out designs.
We have new products available at Wolf and Badger, both online and in their Notting Hill store. The additions include some wide brimmed straw hats with draped brim for looking and keeping cool this summer. We also have available some perching leather pieces for a directional look for your summer events.
A behind the scenes glimpse of our Goddesses bridal collection. Our model, Sanna Takalampi, took part in Finland's next top model! This new collection in entirely whites and creams makes for perfect bridal wear, or elegant pieces that will match a range of outfits.
We have created a limited range of leather handbags available exclusively online at Wolf and Badger and in their Notting Hill store. The range includes two small messenger style bags. These are large enough for your phone, make-up essentials and a small wallet; bags that are both beautiful and useful. The shape of the bag is formed through Swarovski crystal seams that are hand sewn to abut the leather at 90 degree angles. Because the seams are actually formed using the crystals, the Swarovskis become structurally integral to the bags as well as a stunning detail. It takes Paul a full day to do the hand sewing of the crystals alone in each one of these bags - they true luxury artisanal pieces.
The Norfolk bag (pictured in patent cherry) is simply finished with metal fastenings, while the Cornwall bag (pictured in navy) has an additional decorative plate on the front flap. This additional plate has patterning formed through further hand sewn Swarovskis that appear as luxurious studs due to being partially inset into the leather.

The Season Hats: Refined simplicity; hats for grown-ups.
The Season Hats offers hats, headbands and headpieces that are feminine without feeling ‘girly’. Designer Paul Stafford updates the millinery genre by moving away from the industry’s long-held fascination with silk flowers and feathers. Instead of hats that could have been made at any time in the past century, The Season Hats combines classic materials with new technologies to create modern pieces that are appropriate for social events, weddings and casual wear. The Season Hats fulfils a market need for exclusive headwear that can be worn easily and to multiple events, with the wearer always feeling appropriate.
Paul Stafford (MA Cantab, MA Womenswear RCA) :
“I wanted to create a collection of headwear that takes the heritage of traditional millinery in terms of material, technique and proportion but makes it fresh and contemporary by combining modern technologies and a minimal, almost architectural, aesthetic.”
The Spring/Summer 15 preview collection uses laser cut leather with traditional Panama Straw to update conventional styles and shapes. A nod to, and update of, a customary millinery technique is made using a laser etched peacock feather motif. Made in limited numbers and hand finished by Paul to maintain quality, you can have a timeless piece that is not mass produced...headwear that feels modern, finessed and appropriate.
For additional information, photos of the collection and to arrange interviews with Paul, please contact Selina via the contacts page, or call 07720464654.
LEATHER: Clean and condition only with cleaners designed for leather specifically. Leather can withstand showers, but avoid drenching. Should your leather headpiece get wet, dry with a soft white cloth and allow to air dry avoiding direct sunlight and heat. If your headpiece has a leather crown dry on a hat form if possible to prevent shrinking. Alternatively use acid free tissue paper or clean white cloths to stuff the hat to help it keep shape – change the stuffing regularly to speed drying. The process of laser cutting creates a burned residue on the edges of the materials cut. While every effort is made to ensure that this is removed from our pieces, we strongly advise you never to let light fabrics come into contact with these cut edges.
PANAMA STRAW: Panama is a natural fibre and therefore will have natural inconsistencies.
With reasonable care, Panama will last well. The Panama should not be crushed. Pick up hats including panama by the brim, not by the crown.
Panama was originally used as protection from the sun so do not use as a rain hat. However, in the showery British Isles, if you are caught in a shower, and your Panama gets wet, let it air dry naturally, with crown and brim in the proper shape.
